Two possibilities Mr. Rob... Either you are a troll or you are a religious fanatic... I don't mean to offend you in any way, but some of your comments are WAY, WAY out there
So many of us are reelin in the years, just passin time with little direction or purpose. The things we think are precious I can't understand. Time is our most valuable resource. Everyone get the same amount. Are you investing it wisely or spending it uselessly? Time is short,(1corinthians7:29). Get to know The Lord, be certain of eternity. To those that have an ear to hear. I don't know what copy of the book you have, but in mine Steely Dan III from Yokohama is a dildo, which if I remember correctly gets crushed in the nether regions of a masculine lady. Hard to explain. Just go read the damn thing, people.
classic rock rapping it freaking great stuff so listen up. get down to the dan, you'll have a lifetime of pure genuis, like frank zappa, but radio friendly. i went to 8 shows, and there was a young boy next to his mom, she told me, and i quote" he had a choice, go see kiss, mettalica,or brooks and dunn, all good choices, but he said, no mom i want to go see steely dan" they might be wierd lyrics but, this is good stuff. thank little
The incredible guitar solos which occur in the middle of this song and at the end, were voted among the best solo guitar licks in history and are otherwise widely recogized as such. Played by Elliot Randall, a (sadly) little known guitar genius. Long live Elliot Randall. As far as I know, his only solo effort was an LP called "Randall's Island" which is also a classic, very hard to find. I have the original vinyl, but woe is me, nothing to play it on.
when i was 43 years old i took the high school exams ged and passed. i was so proud and happy. at 52 i still like this sond

Yep I think its a William Burroughs novel (naked lunch?) forgot the title but its a dildo. Some say this is their favorite steely solo (J. page, I think Becker) I think they mean the opening solo my friend says the middle one. The opening solo is so amazing.

Steely Dan is the name for a vibrator or dildo, and I'm nearly certain that's where it came from.
Loved this song for years before I even discovered SD (I was into 'classic'). I get SO FAR BEHIND sometimes, duh. JACK SMITH is right - has 'all the right stuff' of Fagen and Becker.
This has it all, great melody, great lyrics, great guitars (both lead & duets), great vocals. Perhaps the most perfect R&R record ever - to my ears anyway!!!!
