Still Remains

A metalcore act from the small upper Midwestern city of Grand Rapids, MI, Still Remains avoid the taint of sounding like every similar young band in their chosen style by prominently using synthesizers alongside the unison-riff guitars. As a result, their music has a strong similarity to European symphonic power metal acts such as Nightwish, giving the group a strong following both on the Continent and among North American fans of the style. Still Remains formed in 2002 with an original lineup of singer T.J. Miller, guitarists Steve Schallert and Jordan Gilliam, keyboardist Zach Roth, bassist Evan Willey, and drummer Cameron Macintosh (soon replaced by A.J. Barrett). Following a self-released EP debut, 2003's Dying with a Smile, Still Remains made their full-length debut with 2004's If Love Was Born to Die. A major personnel change followed, with Schallert and Gilliam replaced by new guitarists Mike Church and Jordan Whelan for the band's Roadrunner Records debut, 2005's Of Love and Lunacy. Yet another major personnel shift followed the release of that album, with Barrett leaving to join Christian metalcore act the Showdown, replaced by Adrian Green. Roth and Willey also exited in 2006, replaced by keyboardist Ben Schauland and bassist Steve Hetland, leaving Miller the sole original member remaining. After extensive tours in Europe and the United States, Still Remains worked with producer Steve Evetts to record their second studio album, 2007's The Serpent. ~ Stewart Mason, Rovi

Sweet!!! Good sound
I like there style
Ammon N. D'Alessio ... someone who understands me.
*there
I don't see any Nightwish resemblance. They're more akin to more heavy metalcore bands like As I Lay Dying and Parkway Drive. A shame they haven't been around to combat all of the bad metalcore around.....
I almost s**tted bricks when I saw that they are from Grand Rapids! I literally live about 15 miles from their!
Still Remains damn I thought we were still on it dies today all sounds alike this s**t is weak..
Good band
Nice music!
:D
I wouldn't compare them to Nightwish w/o a female vocalist. I'll compare them to As I Lay Dying.
amazing lov it
One problem: GRAND RAPIDS IS NOT SMALL! It's the second largest city in Michigan.
Gets me motivated!

For all those that think there still broke up THERE BACK!!! Iv seen theme Twice :D

LOVE THIS!
There awesome!
A lot like Dead by Morning.
I agree with Neal, but yea we can't do anything about it =/

Their keyboardist is with Blessed By A Broken Heart, though
I wish they didn't break up.
Wth these guys sound NOTHING like Nightwish! Stupid "All Music" Freaks! What's up with these people and not knowing anything about music?!
Vomit inducing
RIP Still Remains, they were a very talented band and sucks they broke up. They were one of the honest metalcore bands of their time, but now "synth-core" has taken over with bands such as Attack Attack!, Asking Alexandria, In Fear And Faith, I See Stars, Of Mice & Men, and We Came As Romans.

I like that music but it seems too many bands are following the trend
I'm sure all those bands talking about rape and dismembermen t have a grand old time doing that in their off time. You know, between practicing for their band and beating their mother. The lyrics are to scare off people like you :D

Yea well go to some of the Christian metal stations and you'll see half the people complaining "I liked this till I found out this song is about Jesus? Thumbs down!" etc. Big surprise, one way or another if a song is glorifying everything you don't like in life... probably not going to be a big fan! That being said, I like to song Maria. Has an Alice in Chains feel. Need to hear somemore
marcelameans w h a t
You "can't" listen to a song if you find out the lyrics are uh... bad? Unpure? Anti-religio u s ? Explicit? Sounds like someones mom is monitoring their music...

Not so good this all that remains. thumbs down
I aggree with victoria lots of metal songs sound way good but when I look up their lyrics they bad and some of the lyrics say some of the dumbest things.
I've been disappointed many times by reading the lyrics of a metal song I like and realizing I can't listen to it anymore. I've left shows (or at least stepped out for some food) when the lyrics so overtly condone actions I can't support. That's why I like Christian metal -- I don't have to worry I'll find out it's about rape and dismembermen t .

That said, I love that more US bands are looking to Europe for inspiration! Pandora has introduced me to the awesome metal over there!
I love the track "An Undesired Reunion". I've only found it as unreleased bonus track. I wish this song was available without buying the album!
hey All That Remains just called they want their name back
I agree with fr33ze3dry. I'm christian and listen to what ever i want so i doesn't matter wether the band is or not. Listen or don't.
there's no reason to go on a bashing session about people asking if it's a christian band. and obviously,if your not in that person's shoes, you have no clue why they're asking. so is it really a big deal if they ask? come on guys, grow up.
I agree with usatool. Religion has nothing to do with it if they are not preaching. Now a scientologis t band on the other hand...

Stewart Mason is an idiot. "As a result, their music has a strong similarity to European symphonic power metal acts such as Nightwish." What utter tripe.
As long as a band isn't preaching their values in their songs, their religion doesn't make any difference to me.
I love his scream actually... And the positive message!
Vocalist's screaming sucks, but he has a good singing voice.

And I like metal with positive messages.
oh my god they're christians? this changes everything. i feel like such a douche for listining to a metal band that doesnt throw around the word satan
i didn't even see any preaching here, basically someone just mentioned that they are christian metal and everyone started freaking out, it's not really a big deal just because your an anti-religio u s dumb f*** doesn't mean you have to make a big deal out of anytime you hear it mentioned, lol seriously get over it -_-
this band IS christian so b***h about it all you want! they can incorporate any religion with any genre they want so yea just keep the b***hing coming it does nothing! :) I am a christian that is a metalcore addict and SR is my favorite band, not just 'cause they're christian but the sound! the fact that they're a christian band just made me like them more :D
its not likk your gunna go to a concert and go up to the stage and ask if their christian... . i f u do ur pretty stupid
itsonlyskin7
of love and lunacy, great cd... the serpent... well, that cd sucks, its not the last thing i would want to put out before breaking up... and about this anti christian stuff... i dont like any type of religion but some bands that are christian are actually very talented... take august burns red. they're awesome. and if you dont want to be preached to, pick a different band to listen to. best part about freedom of choice.
so just shut up and listen to the music...-_-
lol I don't know what you're complaining about...I like the music nuff said. They can be satanists, Christians, w/e, if their music sounds good, what's the huge problem here? I bet most of you can't tell what religion (if any) they are affiliated with just by listening until you go and look it up...you shouldn't let the individual band members' belief affect your taste in music, that's kinda weird. And as far as lyrics go, I think the voice is just another instrument, to me lyrics don't matter
mveldman8
Wow... Christian Bashing...Ne a t . Age old argument since...oh I don't know..Elvis? Christian music shouldn't be this or that. Christian Metal is all I listen to for the most part. Conekiller13 and Rusty Unit you should take this up with the Highpriest yourselves. On topic Still Remains is ok.
conekiller13
.... of their 2008 North American headlining tour.

If I wanted to be preached at I'd go to church. Good ridence.
conekiller13
Still Remains is a Christian metalcore band from Grand Rapids, Michigan signed to Roadrunner Records, who formed out of previous Grand Rapids based bands Shades of Amber and Unition. They combined both heavy and melodic death metal in their song writing, also incorporatin g eboards and modern pop sounds to create a distinct style. They have released two studio albums, Of Love and Lunacy and The Serpent, both to positive reviews. They have announced that they will be breaking up at the conclusion
Raychel, i should bash you with my c*ck. Shut up and go to church and tell them how much a sl*t you are.
What's Christianity , lol?
