The Stone Coyotes

As an unlikely rock trio in the form of a New York City guitarist and vocalist (Barbara Keith aka mom), a former television sitcom writer-turned-drummer (Doug Tibbles aka dad), and a bassist playing since the age of 11 (John Tibbles aka son), the Stone Coyotes have paved an esoteric musical path from New York City to Los Angeles all the way to Western Massachusetts in their quest for rock & roll respectability. Eschewing major-label distribution, the band released its initial recording, Church of the Falling Rain, through an exclusive agreement with Amazon.com and caught the ear of Jackie Brown/Get Shorty novelist Elmore Leonard. Leonard then appeared with the Stone Coyotes in a tour of reading/music shows and partnered with the band to include their music in his next film. Their follow-up, Situation Out of Control, was released through Red Cat Records in the summer of 2000. Enjoying their time on the label and its non-corporate approach, Ride Away from the World became their second release on the Massachusetts label. ~ Roxanne Blanford

This woman's vocals are amazing! I've never heard another singer who sings as clear as she. I can always understand every word and love a lot of the work they have produced. BRAVO

rare to find a band with some story to tell and music that moves u to the true sound of roots rock. born to howl is a classic for the ages, one i'll play when i'm eighty and yelling I WANT IT LOUDER.

I really enjoy that they rarely change the beat. Experimentat i o n has killed true
rock and the evolution has produced rap. Rap artists should not be elgible for the
Rock n Roll Hall of Fame!! Two thumbs for Stone Coyotes(UP that is). 'Detroit or
Buffalo' is one of my favorites,bu t , my all time favorite.... ' S h a k e ' . I get down
with the beat!!!

This band has a great sound musically, especially the drummer, but the more I listen to them, the more "samey" the vocals sound, which is disappointin g .

I really dig the songs of theirs I've heard -- so much so that I'm considering paying real cash money for "Born to Howl"! :-) Awesome, mildly country-ting e d rock with great vocals.
