Tomahawk (Rock)

Mike Patton must laugh at rock bands that take extended periods between albums and complain of time restraints. Since the dissolution of Faith No More in 1998, Patton worked like a man possessed -- unleashing a steady stream of releases by the numerous groups he fronts -- among them Mr. Bungle, Fantômas, and Tomahawk (not to mention that he founded his own label, Ipecac). Joining Patton in Tomahawk is a star-studded cast that includes former Jesus Lizard/Hank Williams III guitarist Duane Denison, former Mark of Cain/Helmet drummer John Stanier, and Melvins bassist Kevin Rutmanis, who prove to be quite similar musically to FNM's latter-day output (circa Angel Dust, King for a Day, and Album of the Year). October 2001 saw the release of Tomahawk's self-titled debut on Ipecac (produced by Joe "Jerry" Reed, Emmylou Harris, the Judds' Joe Funderburk), followed with a supporting tour. In May 2003, the supergroup completed another savage mix of experimental alternative metal titled Mit Gas with Joe Barresi before founding member Rutmanis left the band. In 2007, inspired by Denison's visit to Indian reservations on tour as guitarist for Hank Williams III, Tomahawk switched gears and recorded Anonymous, a concept album that combined spooky Native American-inspired songs with metal. The next few years were quiet for the band, as the members pursued other projects, and in 2012, Ipecac released a set of CDs that bundled all three Tomahawk albums, titled Eponymous to Anonymous, before completing 2013's Oddfellows, which featured replacement bassist Trevor Dunn of Mr. Bungle. ~ Greg Prato, Rovi

I blew Mike Patton after a WEEN concert in Vostok. I've been able to read minds and play the pan flute ever since.
First one is the best. There's several bands like this on Pandora. They don't have Hed(pe) first album either.

Seeing them at Union Transfer in Philly tonight! Cant wait to see Patton kill people!!!!!! !
His s**t with Dillinger WAS tight! I'm not a huge fan of them, but I think that EP is one of my favorite Patton-relat e d pieces. Wish it was longer-lived , but the briefness of it kinda makes it that much more special

Awwww man, y'all gotta peep Tomahawk's FIRST album! Not even showing here! Great vocal practice album! Everyone Hates a Coward, 101....
discovered them quite by accident on random internet music search... love the grindcore Native American tribal sounds combined with powerful chants and lyrics... totally unique, a rare thing anymore... Patton rocks! his diversity and passion for music is unparalleled by most musicians... will be a favorite forever hereafter.

Patton is awesome in many forms and groups. The guy is a musician's musician. Elevates his craft to fine art with unmatched variety. He varies from FNM, Bungle, Fantomas, Tomahawk to Mondo Cane! What an incredibly eclectic and talented guy.
I saw Tomahawk open for TOOL during their 'Laturalus' tour and they made a profound impression on me,good band.
his style has is like a universe no center and no end it's inspirationa l
Patton's one of the best artists out there, from Mr. Bungle to Faith No More to Tomahawk, all of his music kicks a**. The first two Albums are more rock oriented, Anonymous is just awesome through audio.
This is really cool. I remember reading an interview many years ago where Patton was saying that Tomahawk was going to his radio band (or accessible rock band) or some such thing. I think he missed the mark on that one but found awesome instead.
AND THERE AIN'T NO THING LIKE A CHICKEN WING
The King of Dingaling is just a thing.
patton is the king dingaling
PATTON IS GOD
They say being a genius and being insane go hand in hand. Mike Patton is proof of that. kudos, Mike, kudos.

f**kin patton

well said my friend, I was one of the lucky ones at their very first show, actually have an unused ticked that I bought for a friend as well, drank a beer in the parking lot and went inside to watch the madness unfold, the stage is maybe 2 feet tall at the Glass House, Patton comes out to set up the multi layered sets of pedals keyboards and plugs in his bullhorn, and everyone kinda crowds around and just stares in awe, he was pimpin' the hair net and shirt that I believe said "my wife is Italia
patton is just such a diverse bad a**
