This is my all time favorite artist. My favorite song is "fast car". She has a good way of interpreting her lyrics and understanding of emotions, her audience has a real easy way of connecting with her. Music should be honest, creative, and relative; Tracy has a wonderful knowledge of these things. LOVE HER!!!!!!!
This is one of my favorite songs from Tracy Chapman. She has a way with lyrics and her delivery of them. Simple and honest. It's easy to tell she feels her music.
This song is...... just strange really... but in a good way. I didnt like it at first, but her voice and the words started growing on me. The lyrics were truly honest. I am surprised by it.=)
This song is brilliant, timeless, honest, everything everyone says about it. But I don't really want it on my happy radio station...switching to my moody station.
I always thought this song was written by some white woman in the 1970s. It takes on a whole new meaning now that I know it was written by a black woman in 1988.
Hey, samalcomson I was 12 years old and felt the same way but now I am a grown woman with a good life, and family. Things will be fine. Don't ever give up.
I used to hate this song when I was younger. I have very mixed feelings about it even today. On one hand, it's brilliantly written and brilliantly performed, but on the other hand, something about it is grating (I think it's how unbearably repetitive her guitar riffs are, because I have the same problem with her other music that I know). I'm still not sure how it's a fun song... I think it's really sad, about poverty and mediocrity and watching your dreams slip through your fingers.
this is a beautiful song it brings me wonderful memories whitch put me in a state ectasy only without the need of the drug anymore! This song pulls me away from this painfull world & even if for only a moment I'm back in car with my soulmate & high on life & love ! I love u Giuseppe & miss u tell God to hold a spot for me! UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN MY ANGEL XOXO

fast car was part playlist for her austin city limits-2003 concert.wish it were on cd,great music, lyrics and voice;a bootleg tape copy cured me from migraines--no harmful side effects;WOW!!!!
Tracy Chapman is an artist who caught my attention right away when she first came on the scene. This song represents my teenage years, and rebellion, and craving that freedom that we imagine exists, but somehow never find. I love to remember that feeling of believing there was an escape from the endlessness that we feel when we're young.

This reminds me of my life right now, beautifully put in a song.

But as I get older I can appreciate the lyrics.
Well, you first.
