Travis Larson Band

For rock guitar fans looking for instrumental jams à la such '80s shredders as Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, and Eric Johnson, the Travis Larson Band has made sure the genre is still living and breathing in the new millennium. The group consists of guitarist Travis Larson, bassist Jennifer Young, and drummer Dale Moon, but has been known to include extra players from time to time (strings, keys, and added percussion). The trio has shared the stage with such accomplished instrumentalists as Gary Hoey, Adrian Legg, former Band of Gypsies drummer Buddy Miles, Bill Bruford's Earthworks, and King Crimson's Trey Gunn. As evidenced by such albums as 2000's self-titled debut and 2001's Suspension (where Victor Wooten had a guest appearance), the trio specializes in well-constructed, melodic rock compositions. Vinx guested on 2004's Burn Season while 2006 saw the release of Rate of Change and the Rock Show DVD. In 2009, they followed that up with a CD and DVD release of Rate of Change Live. Soundmind appeared in 2011. ~ Greg Prato, Rovi

Hmm....Winte r Still played on Pandora, and I knew I'd heard it before. It sounded EXACTLY like the Jam Man Solo Demo here: https://www. y o u t u b e . c o m / w a t c h ? v = v d U Z R B z I t L I & l i s t = P L 1 J 0 m z y R M 2 g d I 4 L u g U u W L G V Q 4 v e V n V b m F # t = 3 6
Am I hogging the comments... ... I just wanted to let Jennifer Young know that she is really GREAT!
Please play more of his material. This is one of my channels... Not ENOUGH TLB... They have 5 cds....not just two!
Love this band...
Love Travis , all of the guitarists here back home miss him. And I dig when he's home in slo cal , really down to earth, no ego here, but he still puts us in our place . Top shelf band!
Must not be jazz currently playing on my jazz station. Look at all the comments!

Room to Breathe is good. Nice clean playing and easy to like. Agree w/ the Steve Morse comparison.
Perenial favorites at Hertlein Guitars - Music Without Boundaries! Three amazing musicians... . t h r e e cherished friendships.
whatever-you guys must still be in reality-grea t twist for the psych
Totally agree with ghinceman on Steve Via. He's a great guitar player but cant write a song that I care to hear. I do howeve like Satriani sometimes
I think if you asked Travis himself he would probably say Steve Morse is a huge influence to his style. He even has a song called Morse Code. : )
I found TLB via a CD related site while searching for Steve Morse influenced music. Travis Larson is a good player and can shred well but I find his compositiona l skill to be quite good too. Personally I don't find Vai or Satriani very interesting musically.
I agree 1mefdiv, the more I listen to TLB, the more I gotta listen to TLB
This guy looks like an amiable lion when he's playin' with all that hair. Take it or leave it.

I've been reading a lot of comments of this being Satriani influenced, but I am a huge Steve Morse fan and this is without a doubt Morse influenced. Good song and am going to listen to more of their music as I'm looking forward to it.
Great album! Also love this new version of Pandora that lets you suspend play on the song you're listening to and then sample all the tracks of the whole album. I'm going to buy this album!

Superb!
Like it, like it

I agree with the Satriani statement! Satriani is alive and kickin'!
These guys are pretty good. Worth checking out the whole album!

Rock on
I have seen these guys live several times and they always put on a great show -- they come down off the stage and mingle with the little people. I own all of their albums -- best money I have ever spent!
deanbass69
SHihan is right about that!!!! I mean didnt he teach Vie?????
who writes these bios? satriani is already responsible for the genre being alive and well in this day and age.
kmanick
Not bad at all I like it
Nice!
Me likey
Seems to me one of his biggest influence's should have been listed as Steve Morse. I hear a lot of the Dixie Dregs in is writing and playing.
chrissarwine
I would by this I love great instrumental jams
Sounds a little like Hank Marvin (another didcovery through Pandora).
This band is so smooth(with this song @ least)!

That is funny. I have not listened to Steve Morse since the DD days and THAT is what I thought 'til I looked.
Absolute blatant rip off of Steve Morse. I mean come on. Anybody..... ?

Very cool...

Wow, "Winter Still" is just such a pretty song. What a great groove. It's nice to see that great guitarists don't always have to shred a hundred miles an hour to make great music.
i agree dankruer, pandora rocks :) and so does this band!
I had the pleasure of meeting the band a few years ago at the NAMM show and they were the nicest people at the show, and played great.
I saw them live a number of times at The Baked Potato in L.A. around 2002? Great band, nice people. I think Dale was a Sacremento Kings fan and I being a Lakers fan had some good shots at eachother.

very good - Pandora turns me on to another band I wouldn't have heard of other wise - Thanks Pandora!
