This song is surprisingly positive and empowering of women - Janie wants more than just a fling, so she turns down the sexual advances of a guy she likes, and has to force herself not to contact him. If she's going to find long-term happiness, this isn't the guy for her. But the act of self-control are tearing her apart, even tho she knows she'll be better for it in the long run.
Great song. And Ton Loc used the guitar riff in his song "Wild Thang."
