She simply was anointed by the spirit of her Savior! She knew Him well. I loved her confidence in the Lord! I loved her sharing how she began to sing loud at an old tent revival that didn't have electricity due to a storm. Vestal sings with such conviction that you know she knows about whom she sings. This makes her wonderful voice and singing even more wonderful to know she lived and believed what she sang.
I love gospel music..but, then I heard Vestal Goodman! What a witness and testimony for our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. The Lord needed her in His choir up in heaven so He took her from us but we have her music that lives on. I thank God for committed christians like Vestal and her family. Oh to be more like Jesus!

When I see Howard and Vestal on one of Gaither's Homecomings that are still being shown, I get tears in my eyes. They were the "real thing", loved the Lord and who knows how many they led to Him.

I remember listening to Vestal and the Happy Goodmans as a little girl, on those good 'ol records, laying right next to the console speaker while Mom sang along with her.... seeing her with the Gaithers really brought back so many great songs and great influences as only Vestal could do... Howard tells about the night she found that big voice! Rain had shorted out their sound system and she had to sing loud to make herself be heard. He was surprised when she opened her mouth and all that sound came out!
She was an icon...Southern Gospel was at its peak when she and Howard were singing as the Happy Goodmen Family....That was southern gospel at its best..

There is no lady I had rather hear sing the Good Gospel Music than the Wonderful Voice of Vestal Goodman,and she will really be missed and I am so Thankful we have have Pandora to play her music.
What a voice!! What a saint of God! She and her husband gave many hours of wonderful music to the world, and shared their talent to spread Gods love and grace to their generation and it still lives. Theres never been a voice that could imitate that of Vestal Goodman!
