Waterdeep

Wichita, KS-based alternative CCM band Waterdeep was formed in 1995 by ex-Hey Ruth frontman Don Chaffer upon completion of his solo album You Were at the Time for Love; bassist Anthony Case, keyboardist Jay Pfiefer and drummer Brandon Graves completed the lineup, which soon released its debut album To Chase Away the Birds. Chaffer's wife, singer/guitarist Lori Coscia, joined Waterdeep in 1996, with the group's sophomore effort Sink or Swim appearing the following year; in 1998, the band returned with both Enter the Worship Circle, an acoustic collaboration with the members of 100 Portraits, and Live at the New Earth, which documented the final performances of Case and Pfiefer. The outtakes collection Everyone's Little CD preceded the 1999 release of Waterdeep's 1999 Squint Entertainment debut Everyone's Beautiful, featuring new bassist Kenny Carter and Graves' wife Christena on keyboards. ~ Jason Ankeny, Rovi

Discovered WD when they were touring with Fernando Ortega years ago... and it's hard to say what I loved more: their amazingly quirky, completely un-self-cons c i o u s , & flawlessly executed live performance, or the fact that the very conservative CCM radio station that brought them in had no idea what to make of them!
Since then, every exposure to them has been a new discovery. I LOVE their raw honesty, musical risk taking and the fact that they don't fit anyone's mold. Best band out there.

My favorite artists. Really wish Christian music had more acts like this.
Thank you Don & Lori Chaffer for showing us your heart and soul. I own everything you've ever recorded for sale to the public
i love waterdeep
My favorite band in the whole universe!

Don and Lori are good people, wish them all the best in Nashville.
They have some new albums out and are living in Nashville now. I hope they have those on Pandora, although it doesn't look like it; we'll see. I don't think they have a label but at least two new albums that I haven't heard yet. You can go to their website to download or purchase.

How about another album like "Live at the New Earth" showcasing the wide range of these very talented musicians, from folk, to jam-band, to classic, to funk..... Down at the riverside... . :)

Waterdeep is one of those bands you can put on and leave on all day. They have strong truth, humility and failure, raw emotion and a rich down-to-eart h style that endears them to their listeners.
Amazing, been loving these guys since the days of Heart to Heart and Tie the gap in the mid to late 90's...
I haven't listened to these songs in a long while, and yet I'm sure it remains my most-listene d to album in my collection. Great music with raw feeling and "real" Christianity without fluff or pretense. Drummer Brandon Graves is the best drummer I have ever seen live, incidentally .
Thank you for all your years of music and fellowship at The Well. We'll miss you... Blessings!

You know how sometimes you hear a song and you realize that you were just *meant* to hear *that* song at *that* particular moment? That's Waterdeep - every time I listen to them.
I've been a Waterdeep fanatic for years, and it is awesome to see that there are others who recognize their quality! Right on!
This band is such an amazing "unfound" band, they are so much deeper and musicly they gel better than many of the bands in the limelight today. I have seen them live 3 times and everytime they blow me away. much love Don
Don Chaffer is our generation's Bob Dylan and Waterdeep is the most underrated band in any category you try to fit them into. (Yes, they are that good-just listen to the "Sink or Swim" disc a few times and you will be hooked!)
Waterdeep is my all-time favorite band. And that is saying something, because I normally tend to be very fickle with the music I listen to. They are so consistently great, with their inventive musical style and their real, straight to the heart lyrics. They are always playing in my car or iPod!
I love Good Good End off of the Heart Attach Time Machine

Waterdeep is amazing! There is simply no one like them. I hope they continue to make music...fore v e r . There songs are so relatable, the happy and sad ones and they just give me so much hope!
this group expresses the cry of our hearts in day to day living in an honest and real way.
