Adagio for Strings, Samuel Barber: Oddly enough, if you listen to movie sound tracks this songs has probably been in more movies than we all know about. ;-)
We used this piece for our commitment ceremony on Molo'a Beach in Kauai'i. It was lovely! We will cherish this piece forever! Thank you Mr. Orbit for the arrangment!
out of the soundtrack of "homeworld" adagio for strings leave a little scar on my musical taste at childhood, later on ,with the bitterness of the long lost brothers and sisters in arms, fighting overseas, ready for those empty caskets, every time it plays we know somebody wont make home tonight,so it keep us united, praying, and aware....

On Sept 11th, 2001 I spent the day, traveling around
for my job...of course I was listening to the radio
attentively...trying to decipher what was going
on around us....and this song stands out cleary
as the one played over and over..
I've never seen PLATOON so I associate the tune that way

Oh, how lovely. so intense.. thanks so much for this selection!!
Beautiful, yet sad sounding, beautiful yet I've heard this song b4 played at sad moments in telling a story or a sc ene on T.V.; haunting but definitely beautiful...
Its a beautiful piece that defies categorization. It was also used in "The Scarlet Letter" soundtrack.

Samual Barber is one of my favorite composer. His adagio for strings is my favorite classical music and it really tugs the soul. I am old enough to remember the day Barber died. I was working in Kansas City and it came over the radio and I felt so sad. He was always called America's young composer. He really wasn't so young afterall.
