The version of CTTE on YesSongs is clearly the best version performance wise.Too bad the audio fidelity is not as good because of the recording technology of the time
Just watched several of my DVD versions of Siberian Khatru (and Close To The Edge) last night, showing them to a friend. I hadn't watched Yessongs in awhile, but the fire they played with in 1973 sure came through compared to some of the slower tempo newer versions.
This live performance is certainly slower tempo than original ob=ne in the "Close to the Edge" piece. But we can more clealy track YES' such a complicated and intricate ensemble through this live. This peice has been one of my all time favorites of YES.
Excellent version of this tune - this was some of the first progressive rock that graced my ears - everything is in place - yes!!!!!!! - I love chris squires harmony - the drums are awesome the great allan white. - Rick Wakeman rules - Steve Howe jazzes out amazing - jon anderson the angelic one. excellent tune by an excellent band - and I first heard this tune 37 years ago.
This is a great song but the slowed tempo of this live version really sucks a lot of the life out of the tune...

Close to the Edge is probably still my favorite album of all time. I could make a case for any one of the 3 songs on it as my favorite track -- certainly there are days it is Siberian Khatru
