Ennio Morricone is my favorite film composer, love Gabriel's Oboe. Why is he not as well known as John Williams? Let's hope he receives more much deserved accolades.

Ennio Morricone is, in my opinion, the best film music composer, and yet, we hear about John Williams and Mr. Morricone is not as well known. Of course, John Williams is great too, but why does Mr. Morricone not receive as much well deserved accolades? Love Gabriel's Oboe.

So moving...jus t beautiful.

I played this as an oboe feature during a community band concert, and the band director decided to showcase me, as I'm currently a music education student and recently graduated. Ahhhh Gabriel's Oboe gives me chill every time I hear it, especially since I'm an oboist myself. Yo-Yo Ma adapted it so well to his cello.

One of the most beautiful compositions ever written to express the sadness of War....this composition also became the score for Steven Spielberg's great and intensely moving film Schindler's List........ o n e of the greatest movies ever made........ . t h a n k you Ennio Morricone and Yo-Yo Ma......

@Alex Clemons, you're right, he does have such a rich tone. This piece really showcases his musicianship , and his musicianship showcases the writing.

I'm sure, as is S.Maqowan that it's from The Mission, I sang an arrangement of this and was immediately certain I knew it.

I'm pretty sure this song is misidentifie d . This is from Morricone's soundtrack for The Mission with Robert De Niro and Jeremy Irons.

Reminds me of Samuel Barber, Gustav Mahler...the strings touch a nerve; must be what heaven sounds like.
