Zebrahead

The Orange County, CA-based punk-rap outfit Zebrahead was formed in 1996 by vocalist/guitarist Justin Mauriello, guitarist Greg Bergdorf, bassist Ben Osmundson, and drummer Ed Udhus. Inspired by acts including Fugazi and the Descendents, the group found themselves uninspired by the local trend toward ska-punk and instead began incorporating elements of hip-hop into their sound, eventually recruiting rapper Ali Tabatabaee to join their ranks. After issuing the EP Yellow on the indie label Dr. Dream in May 1998, Zebrahead signed to major label Columbia to release their full-length debut, Waste of Mind, which appeared later that same year. Playmate of the Year was issued in mid-2000 and the Stupid Fat Americans EP followed only in Japan the next year. The guys headed over to Europe with Green Day to support the records, playing various festival dates as well. Throughout the years, they also shared gigs with bands like Less Than Jake, Kottonmouth Kings, 311, Reel Big Fish, and Goldfinger. The full-length MFZB (aka "Motherf*cking Zebrahead B**ch!") appeared in 2003, after which Mauriello exited the group to pursue other interests. His departure distressed fans, as the singing/rapping dynamic between him and Tabatabaee was crucial to the band's sound. However, Zebrahead was soon back in action with the addition of new vocalist/guitarist Matty Lewis to their lineup (who sounded remarkably like Mauriello). They spent summer 2006 on the Warped Tour as Broadcast to the World was released overseas that July through SPV/Sony. The album went gold in Japan in just a month's time, and the guys spent fall on dates throughout Europe. ~ Jason Ankeny, Rovi

Favorite band in that punk rock genre.. The only really lol
these guys are BOSS
great energy.....> > > > >
If you like Zebrahead, look for a band called Jank1000...i t was Matty Lewis' first band. ;-)
Phoenix, Broadcast, and MFZB were all awesome. Waste of Mind was pretty good too. Playmate was the worst IMO, and I didn't like Get Nice! at first, but I LOVE like 5 of the songs now instead of only 2. The band is amazing, and this type of pop-punk rock that throws flavor and freestyle in is rare now. Less Than Jake comes to mind, as do The Offspring and Blink, but I can't really think of others... That's a very short list.

I prefer Broadcast, tbh.
I think Phoenix and MFZB are definitely their best (Phoenix being the best)... But everyone will have different opinions based on the first time they heard them. Before you act like the old albums were the REAL band stuff (besides the fact Ali was there), think about how the BAND feels about their new stuff. Do you think it's not as good because it's newer? Hell no, lol. It doesn't make any of you guys cooler because you liked a band early on in their career---ban d s keep playing to improve and d
You know, after hearing all of their albums, I really have to say that MFZB is their best work.
these guy's got famous with this one song rescue me after that they kinda fell away from mainstream after they announced they where gonna break up and i forgot about them until sonic crazy hu
blahguy77

His World is amazing!
i had waste of m ind and playmate, saw them play once too. haven't listened to them in several years though. "get back" was my favorite song.
ikr zebrahead rox and i also like three days grace and lost prophits my fave song by lost prophits is rooftops and its my ringtone :)
Favorite band by far. I find it hard to dislike a song with matty in it.
#1 on my favorite bands list! MFZB!
The album to listen to is, "MFZB". It's probably my fave album. Of course, their older stuff is better, "Broadcast.. " was a pretty great follow up, but also introduced Matty. Justin was a great vocalist, mainly because he had a different sound, he could hit those high notes pretty well, Matty has trouble with that at times. "Hellow Tomorrow" is a great example, i believe. Been a huge ZH fan ever since i first heard "Waste of Mind". I have 2 ZH tats and dont plan on giving up on them. MFZB!
Let's not forget Mind Trip on the Idle Hands soundtrack. One of their best songs I think!
Maybe his name is just Christian he doesn't sound like the christians I know
they kick motherf**kin g a**!!! in escence i guess theyre kinda like a way better linkin park that isnt as popular and ovverated... but LP's still good... just not as good as zebrahead.

I second that statement, Elicoor.
Zebrahead is way the f**k better than all those cookie cutter bands that just churn out more of the same schlock year after year. Zebrahead had the balls to combine rap and punk into a blast of punk that gets all up in your face with it's rightious anger. Great s**t.
great
Mother F**king Zebrahead B**ches!!!!! But this band is way the f**k better than SR-71.

What the heck... I can't find His World here!
i love all their CD's
they're awesome and totally original...h a h a MFZB!!
These guys have to be my favorite band. MFZB!
Over the last 10 years you can see how the band has changed their style with each album. They are all solid!
These guys still rock but their old stuff is where it's at.
The new album ok, but it's no "Broadcast to the World".
phbandit
I saw these guys play a Highschool in Jackson Hole with 311 once. I liked them when I first heard Waste of Mind, but that live show really made me a fan. I still like them 10 years later

puke
Holy s**t, a new album!!! Damn, that's f**king amazing.
I cant wait for their new album Pheonix to be on here
