Beborn Beton

Electro-pop trio Beborn Beton was formed in Germany in 1989 by Stefan Tillmann (keyboards, drums), Michael Wagner (keyboards), and Stefan Netschio (vocals). After its first two albums, Tybalt and Concrete Ground, they signed to Strange Ways, joining a roster with fellow synth-pop artists Wolfsheim and De/Vision. Following Nightfall, Truth (which includes the club favorite "Another World"), and Fake, a U.S.-only best-of, Tales From Another World, was released May 2002. The second CD of the compilation features remixes by peers such as Camouflage, Apoptygma Berzerk, Covenant, and Funker Vogt. In spring 2002, Beborn Beton toured the United States with Apoptygma Berzerk. ~ Kenyon Hopkin

I think they're about to come out with a new album for the first time in like a decade. Exciting!

back away from the place where my ashes are buried :)

One of the best Beborn Beton songs !

Pandora is the reason that I will never go back to FM. This Beborn song is amazing!!

Never heard of them until Pandora... easily one of my faves now. Perhaps I'm just a total synth junkie... who gives a s**t really. They're outstanding!

I adore Beborn Beton!

It's easy to tell these guys have some familiarity with the emergence of industrial musical elements and the genre in the 80s, they have a similar epic sound and smooth progression and layering to Depeche Mode. Excellent group, I'm surprised no one commented.

Is this the same lead singer as in the group Camouflage? Sounds like him.

oh, that's an egg.

Another Top rated band from GERMANY!!!

One of the better "Futurepop" bands out there. Very "strange," "dark" and "weird" as nearly all German 'Futurepop' bands are. The German 'psyche' is a perfect fit -for the better and the worse- for this genre of music.

One of the best under-rated bands ever-- I wish they were still making music...

I love Bebron Benton... The Colour of Love...

Their okay, but I like VNV Nation better.

'hemoglobin' is a pretty up-tempo song. It shouldn't bore the listener, and it's safe to say that if you don't like it, you probably won't like BB

I'd need to hear more. The one song I heard was pretty boring. I'd definitely give them a few more minutes of my time though :)

After hearing Truth, my mom has become just as big a fangirl of Beborn Beton as I am. Car trips are much more enjoyable now, ha. :) My mood improves exponentiall y whenever I hear this music!

I played Beborn Beton for my brother, and the first he said was, "Depeche Mode!" Now I appreciate Depeche Mode, but I can't personally get into them. I just ... get bored by the end of the album. Beborn Beton has been monopolizing my car stereo for months, on the other hand. To each their own. :)

aaa...what?!

@ living-dead corporate fem-zombie decaying slowly in a cube with pandora

That's not a roach. It's a little boat with a little person in it and another little person pulling on it. xD
Report as inappropriate
NO SMITHS? that's a fail lol

i love the melodrama, almost bordering on darkwave(whi c h is a good genre in itself)

more beborn!

you may want to look up a band called Diorama, and Diary of dreams. a little more melodramaitc but more powerful vocals,

Diorama isn't on pandora, but they have well over 5 albums,

anywho, look em up,

it's worth it.

I can't stand Depeche Mode or The Smiths so, thankfully, Beborn doesn't sound TOO much like them!

(but the roach-omelet t e on the orange cover has GOT to go. makes me lose my apetite every time it pandora plays it during lunch-time)

mmm! more depeche mode! more more more!

Depeche Mode absolutely, completely, utterly rocks ... so do Beborn Beton. It's amazing what can be accomplished with this sound. Why don't more bands succeed in pulling it off so gloriously? It makes me wonder if this "genre" is much more difficult to author than it would otherwise seem.

shaffnerfm - i agree. love to see people get psyched about their music. love to get my 16 year old son to listen to older stuff and say "see, your music comes from this". you can trace stuff back all the time. What i like to see is bands that emulate, pay hommage, give credit and then evolve. dont steal, copy, etc. take the blocks and build. you should all check out how all of the existing genres have evolved like cow punk, Oy!, folk rock, country, rockabilly. they have so many criss crosses.
Report as inappropriate
music is always inspired from others, thats how its beautiful and different,

because it's always evolving... enough said, its a bomb dig band and i hope more can learn from them

Ooo-- intelligent conversation and discussion! Yes, indeed, Depeche Mode was the major breakthrough with synthesizers , but I can think of half a dozen bands that relied on synth before them, so does that mean that Depeche Mode also is a copycat? I'm not used to seeing intelligent debates on artist comments! I love to go to the Metallica comments and watch the endless back-and-for t h there! So fun! Grab some popcorn and come with me sometime!

i wonder why they r getting me so hott this time good f**kin band amazing live and amazing beats and mixes
Report as inappropriate
thanks, gawthic1, jcarrier01, vb1self, and jeleo242! Everything comes from somewhere else! I have probably 770 'favorite' songs on my list! Diversity is natural, anway.

If I wanted to listen to Depech Mode I would but I am enjoying the music of Beborn and I am thankful that Depeche helped to create this style of music so that artists such as Beborn can and do deliver kick a** music in the new millineum.

Agree with most of the remarks below to various degree (all a matter of taste, after all, with both listener and band "peaking" in the 80's), but a question: "Does anybody stop long enough from stooling on (ooops, my bad!),"decon s t r u c t i n g " these "derivative" bands long enough to just enjoy the music for its own sake?" Certainly, Depeche (com)Mode and others were the pioneers, but do not Beborn, Assemblage 23, Imperative Reaction, Neuroticfish and their ilk write damn good stuff NOW?!
Report as inappropriate
Synthpop bands like Beborn, And One and others all come from what I like to call "Depeche Mode 101"

You really cant go wrong if you are a synthpop band with emulating (imo) the best synthpop band of all time.

Also with out bands like Beborn, synthpop would of died out after the 80s (with the exception of the big 3: Depeche Mode, Duran Duran and New Order)

They're not bad. I get a little tired of hearing/read i n g the "A is just a clone of B, therefore A must suck" argument. I even read on a Youtube blog that someone thought a Clan of Xymox song from "Creatures" sounded like a Sisters of Mercy clone. Everyone borrows and/or is influenced by many other artists. Few artists are ever TRULY original. So what if a song or artist sounds like someone else, does that mean you can't enjoy it? I guess so if you're eager to impress others with petty snobbery.
Report as inappropriate
They fit just right with what I like. I have very specific criteria. Are you people even old enough to have heard Human League in the 80's????
Report as inappropriate
You're right ulrichburke. And they're about 15 years behind.
Report as inappropriate
They are SUCH a COMPLETE Human League Clone! Every note played and sung could be from a League album - in fact, that's what I thought I was listening to when the track started. Except the League write better lyrics - sorry, Beborn.

Sounds like Depeche Mode to me.
