Back in the 70's , after I finished nursing school, I landed a job in a hospital , working in the OR . I was working graveyard. My very first patient was Eric Burdon . He needed an appendectomy . He survived!! But I was a nervous wreck!

Hey I like Monterey ! One of the great bass lines going and great composition, even if the lyrics are anachronisti c .

What a voice--I love the way he yells You can't tell me! on the end of 'It's My Life.' A ridiculous ego, even bigger than his voice, if that's possible, His autobiograph y is on my reading list--he must have some great stories. Animals (the group, not the genera) are severely underrated these days, I guess with the decline of the blues. I always like hearing Please Don't Let Me Be Misunderstoo d - - h a s aged really well (unlike Monterey).

Burdon is another legend!!! Saw him live in a bar in Eugene or in the 90s.,. I was hamered with my wife, we rocked on I still remembered he put his hand on the top of my head and mic in my face !!

Eric Burdon was The Eggman referred to by John Lennon in I Am The Walrus. The story goes that they used to party together and Burdon said dumb groupies would let themselves be debased by doing anything he asked including letting Burdon crack eggs over their naked bodies which apparently Lennon found amusing.

Great voice at that time; demanding and controlling.

I often wonder how people like Burdon and other of his peers, who were only in their late teens and early 20's in the 1960's could have possibly sounded like old blues men, so full of soul for their age. Amazing and will probably never be duplicated.

I was the youngest of 6 kids growing up in the early 60's and my parents wouldn't let me listen to The Animals, or any corrupting style of music such is this, with my older siblings even though there was only one turntable to share. Call me a rebel but that made me want to listen in even more. Funny thing....Now my parents consider The Animals real music and what's on the radio today to be crap. I think my parents and I can finally agree on something.

Eric Burdon's music inspired us to keep the faith and to keep on fighting
during the Vietnam War. This despite that this country was politically
split. We answered our nations call to defend her with our life is
necessary.

One of the great rock voices ever. Still performing and still great. I appreciate Eric Burdon much more now than when a teen in the 60's.
