My favorite all-time group. They really knew how to have fun. They make me feel good to this day. Bob's lead vocals were perfect; Dave and Nick added great harmonies and tons of class. The instrumentat i o n was out-of-this- w o r l d .

The Kingston Trio has always been my favorite group since I first saw them in person at college in 1959. Since then I've seen them perform in person 3 more times and have been a fan from college days to this day, both of the original group and the current group led by George Grove. Their music will last forever.

I miss the originals but the guys who kept the group going are also good. I saw them in Vegas some years ago and they still put on a good show. My first contact with them was TOM DOOLEYwhen we heard it on the radio in the fifties.

Great concert at McLean (IL Bloomington Normal) County Fair 1979 while at Illinois State U. A great night!

For me the Kinston Trio's version of Where Have All The Flowers Gone is the best. Doesn't matter that some dismiss them as minor players due to their commercial success. They got this right.

I saw them at the Maxim Hotel (then brand new, no longer exists today) in Las Vegas in 1977.

I fondly recall the folk movement of the late fifties to early sixties which the Kingston Trio spearheaded. That was an interesting time.

From high school to college, the army and beyond, I've always loved the Kingston Trio - never better than when Dave Guard was on banjo. Always fun with tight harmony and good instrumental s . Saw them twice - once with Guard and once with Shane. Lotta fun both times.

I'm happy knowing that a group with that name is still performing. May they always!

why don't people know who these people are? they're BRILLIANT!

I saw the original Kingston Trio with my younger bother in 1963 and their opening act was a young stand up comedian named Woody Allen. They were all great. People forget that KT was the number one singing group in the WORLD for five consecutive years before the Beatles.

I have loved this trio since I heard them in the 60's. They are one of my favorites of all time. Happiness and memories are brought forth with their music and perfect blending of voices.
Report as inappropriate
The KT transcends the critics, many of whose complaints are true... but don't touch their virtues. Their vitality is unsurpassed, and the perfect balance of the three (esp. original personalitie s ) was -- like the Beatles' alchemy -- perfect for the moment in a way that could not have been engineered. More commercial than the Weavers? Yes, but who could have spread the folk legacy so far? Yesterday's and today's folk rock and folk pop are their offspring.

The Kingston Trio is the premier folk group. I listen to, and NEVER tire of them. I treasure all of the many KT albums I have. I enjoy almost all of the performers of that genre, like Ian & Sylvia, John Denver, Brothers 4, etc. who have to attribute their huge successes back to the Trio. I highly recommend that those of you who love the music, visit www.rediscov e r m u s i c . c o m . Their catalogue is a virtual treasure-tro v e of folk music!!! You'll read it cover to cover!

Mom and Dad had stacks of Kingston Trio albums, they are one of the earliest groups I remember listening to. They will always have a special place in my heart, and would love to see them perform live!

I grew up listening to the Kingston Trio and was fortunate to see them in the 1990s. My friend had never heard of them. She left with 3 CDs that night.

I grew up listening to them with my parents and brother. I have always had a special place in my heart for them and now my 10 year old son loves to listen to them! Great memories !!

I bought At Large in, I think, March 1959. They never made a bad album - comparable, in my mind, with Sinatra and the Beatles.

I still love listening to these guys....my mom and dad had all their albums..I now have them on cd...I remember sitting on my dad's shoulder watching them play in Seattle in 1962...great sound
