I enjoy listening beyond the structured, sociologically normalized, commercial music (radio becoming short bursts of heavily compressed sound with more commercials than airtime for musicians). I enjoy complex structures and arrangements that I try to incorporate into my own music (Yummykind/Inoyun). Music that tends to be more sugary does not grab me as much, nor does the hooky aspect of music. New sounds and approaches are what makes music more attractive these days. Where the tone and context drag you around rather than the aspect, usually takes you into some form of electronic music or influence where the beat isn't always a drum and the rhythm tends to melt into other structures. There is more room for sound exploration in electronic music. New sounds are always being hunted...you can see there are many interpretations of "unfamiliar sounds". Some can even be considered difficult listening.
