I am a pianist, composer, music teacher, event producer and dreamer. I paid no attention to music until about age 15 when I discovered classical piano and became obssessed. Classical was my first love and then came Jazz which I have had a love-hate relationship with. I've always denied it, yet I play it for a living and even have a jazz-based radio show. (see thejazzlaboratory.com) This is probably because jazz musicians are on such the high horse sometimes and plenty of other music is equally challening and fulfilling....like jamband music and various word cultures. I also LOVE ambient electronica especially on the spiritual/devotional side - Hearts of Space, Gurumay and Interchill for example. On the deep soul side, New Orleans is my home groove. I've always loved the rhythms and feel of latin music and now I am submersed in Cuban and Brazilian in particular. Right now I play solo, in a jazz group, and a Brazilian project. I really miss playing in a jamband like in California but that scene is not happening here in Santa Fe so I feel sad about that and misunderstood...not that I even try anymore...love the Grateful Dead...that would be my home culture along with the spiritual communities around Don Miguel Ruiz and Mark Griffin. -Namaste
...oh yeah and let's not forget Burning Man!
